On 14 November 2015 The Guardian reported: The winter's first hailstorm and iced rain cocktail greeted visitors disembarking from the Gourock to Rothesay ferry on Friday morning. In the next week or so, 15 Syrian refugee families, fleeing bombs and bullets in their homeland, will make the same crossing, seeking security, compassion and the Arabic for winter woollies. The families, including up to 50 children, are among a first large group of refugees who will begin arriving in Scotland this week.
