The initiative founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi to establish Peace Places in the 3,000 largest cities of the world is bearing fruit with many countries engaged in the planning process and a growing number organizing for construction to begin.

Each Maharishi Peace Palace will offer the knowledge and practical programmes Maharishi designed for peace and enlightenment, for a healthy, happy, more creative, more fulfilling and successful life through the Transcendental Meditation programme. The benefits of this simple, natural technique in the fields of education, health, social behaviour, and world peace have been documented by hundreds of scientific research studies during the past half-century all over the world.

Germany is home to four Maharishi Peace Palaces, said Dr Eckart Stein, director of the new Peace Palace in Erfurt, recently. The four are located in:

Hannover
The Maharishi Peace Palace in Hannover was established in 2005 in a stately mansion in the government district of the city. In 2011 the Maharishi World Peace Trust in Germany and the Peace Palace in Hannover were accredited by the German government as centres for the new federal civilian volunteer service.

Uedem and Oebisfelde
Each of these two locations is the seat of a long-established, in-residence group of peace-creating experts—practitioners of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi programme. The main purpose of their extended daily group practice is in reducing negative trends of crime and violence and creating an influence of coherence, harmony, and peace for the whole society. The Peace Palace in Oebisfelde is celebrating its 10th year.

Erfurt
The new Maharishi Peace Palace in Erfurt, near the centre of Germany, was inaugurated in autumn 2012. The building is the first Peace Palace in Europe designed and built according to Maharishi Vastu architecture; and the first in the world to use the MERU Master Builder System.

Many courses and events have been held at this newest Maharishi Peace Palace, including the Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture course, offered in German; Maharishi VedAroma course; and Maharishi Gandharva Veda concerts.

Visitors from many countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy, Malaysia, and New Zealand, have come to experience firsthand the benefits of being in a Maharishi Vastu Peace Palace, and to consult with the directors, Dr Eckart Stein and Dr Lila-Maria Hartmann Stein, about the planning, design, and construction process. Based on their experience, Dr Hartmann Stein wrote a detailed manual,
How to Build a Peace Palace, to help others who are building their own Maharishi Vastu Peace Palace.
