UK: Transformations in national life through coherence-creating groups of meditators

In the past year, the United Kingdom has seen positive changes rising in many areas of national life—including dramatic decreases in crime and consumption of alcohol and cigarettes; an improving economy and establishment of a national 'happiness index'; and rapid progress in developing renewable energy.

These and other developments are part of worldwide trends reflecting rising enough coherence in collective consciousness, say leaders of the Global Country of World Peace in the United Kingdom—resulting from large groups of people practising Transcendental Meditation and the advanced Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying.

The Administrator of the Global Country in the UK continued his report of achievements during recent global celebrations of the new year in MERU, Holland—going on to describe a series of 'very positive and extraordinary changes taking place very quickly', and noting that similar trends would probably be found in every country being reported on.

The British Crime Survey found that last year, crime was at its lowest level since the survey began 30 years ago, the Administrator said, echoing similar news from the United States reported the previous day by Dr John Hagelin, Administrator of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the US—that crime in New York was down by 80% and by similar large percentages in other major American cities.

Alcohol and cigarette consumption in the UK is falling dramatically, and in the past six months the economy has grown at twice the rate predicted by economists. The Prime Minister has established a national happiness index, the Administrator reported, noting a similar perspective of leaders in Burma, who point out that 'economic data alone is not sufficient to indicate how happy the people are; this great focus on gross domestic product and national income isn't really a measure of the happiness of the people.' The national happiness index is supported by all political parties in the UK, and is leading to a review of policies in many government departments, to ensure that not only do they look after the economy, but also the health and happiness of the population.

There had been concerns in the UK about lack of progress in renewable energy, but in the past three years there has been a 'sudden, massive change', and now almost almost 5% of UK energy comes from totally renewable sources, led by wind resources. 'Suddenly the UK realized that, with its huge coastline, it had the largest wind reserves of almost any country in the world, and there is a massive rush to exploit those wind reserves.' The largest wind farm in the world opened very recently in the Thames estuary; all of the new wind farms are designed to be ecologically sound, so as not to disturb birds or marine life, but rather to enhance marine ecology.

Scotland is predicting, on very sound evidence, that 100% of its energy will be produced from renewable sources by 2025, after which it will begin exporting renewable energy to the rest of Europe. The UK as a whole is predicting that 100% of its energy will be from renewable sources by 2050 at the latest.

The Administrator of the Global Country in the UK commented that 'these huge major shifts in the way the world is behaving' are a refection of a change in world consciousness, the enlivenment of total Natural Law and peace in world consciousness, created by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes.

Maharishi's major focus in the world was to establish large coherence-creating groups practising his technologies of consciousness, he said, noting the continuing success of the Invincible America Assembly, large groups of Yogic Flyers and Maharishi Vedic Pandits in India, and groups in schools in Latin America and other parts of the world. 'This is changing the world. This is reestablishing, rebuilding world consciousness.'

Global Good News will continue featuring highlights of the UK Administrator's presentation of news and achievements in that nation; as well as more reports from leaders of the Global Country of World Peace in other countries.
