Kenya: Global Mother Divine Organization reports achievements during Third International Congress

The Global Mother Divine Organization* (GMDO) in Kenya reported on its many achievements on the final day of the organization's recent Third International Congress in MERU, Holland.

In June, the organization had the opportunity to present the benefits of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and its application in the areas of education, health, total brain functioning, and the group dynamics of consciousness at the annual Kenyan Gotabgaa conference that took place in Washington, DC.

Gotabgaa means 'our homeland family', and this conference is an annual event for Kenyans living in the United States; speakers from Kenya, the US, and other countries speak on a range of topics of concern. The theme of this year's conference was 'Unite, Educate, Empower'. About 300 Kenyans attended this year's conference, and it was also broadcast to an estimated 6 million listeners in western Kenya.

The distinguished panel of speakers included former President Chissano of Mozambique, who prepared a very compelling four-minute video that was both a personal testimony and a call to action. He spoke about the importance of creating unity in the nation through individuals learning the Transcendental Meditation Technique. When the presentations began, organizers said, the whole room became very quiet and everyone was deeply absorbed in the different talks, which were all very well received.

Greatly involved in the planning and success of this event were two Kenyan practitioners of Transcendental Meditation in Washington, DC, Daniel Kipsang Melli and his wife Hellen, who also arranged a prime-time spot on the agenda for the presentations. They recently attended a special Visitors Weekend with Dr David Lynch at Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in Iowa, and met many leaders of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's worldwide organizations.
