France: Dr David Lynch helps celebrate 50th anniversary of Maharishi's first visit in 1960

Members of the Global Country of World Peace in France recently celebrated the 50th anniversary of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's first visit to the country in April 1960.

Seventy Teachers and practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation Programme and Yogic Flyers assembled for extended group practice of meditation over the weekend and celebrated Maharishi's arrival in the city of Lille. The couple who first hosted Maharishi in 1960 attended the celebration, and told of their blissful experiences during that time.

Speaking on Maharishi Global Family Chat,* Raja Michael Dillbeck, Raja of Invincible France for the Global Country of World Peace, pointed out the great gift Maharishi has given everyone, now and for all future generations—the experience of inner bliss every day through his Transcendental Meditation Programme.

Dr David Lynch attended the assembly and gave a press conference in which he called for 10 schools in France to be the leaders in introducing Transcendental Meditation, in order to demonstrate the programme's effect of reducing violence and improving academic performance.

A 12-minute TV interview was screened at the celebration in which Dr Lynch gave a mini introductory lecture on Transcendental Meditation. The interviewer enjoyed it so much that he invited David to continue for another 12-minute segment. Dr Lynch said that peace, happiness, and better relationships for the students have to come from within; practising Transcendental Meditation is the only experience that allows total brain functioning.

Concluding his report on the celebration, Raja Dillbeck reflected that thirty articles have appeared in the French media so far on the benefits of Transcendental Meditation for education, signaling development of a new attitude within the nation. Followup plans include bringing more information and a better understanding to educational leaders in France.
