Speaking 8 July 2008 on Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, gave theinaugural address for the grand opening of the Global Financial Capital of New York at 70 Broad Street, New York City, New York, USA.

'This is a highly auspicious day for America,' announced Dr Morris, 'when this building becomes the official headquarters for Raja John Hagelin, Raja of Invincible America, to carry out the administration of all programmes for his domain.'

Raja Hagelin, who will be permanently based at the Global Financial Capital, entered the building today in a ceremonial fashion. Said Dr Morris, 'He circumambulated the building three times, and then, carrying pictures of Maharishi and Guru Dev*, as well as Maharishi's books of Total Knowledge, passed through the eastern entrance.' Raja Hagelin then performed Puja* on the fourth floor, and toured the building in a symbolic manner.

In addition to being home base for the Raja of Invincible America, said Dr Morris, the Global Financial Capital will serve as the International Center for Invincible Defense, as well as the Center for Leadership Development for Maharishi University of Management.

The 100-year-old structure, formerly an American bank-note building, was originally located by Richard Quinn under the guidance of Maharishi. It was chosen to be the Global Financial Capital because of its rare due-east facing entrance, a feature highly auspicious according to principles of Maharishi Sthapatya-Veda. 'Located one block from the New York stock exchange, where the first US Congress met, and where George Washington was inaugurated as the first American president, this building is positioned to have the most positive influence on New York and America,' Dr Morris said.

Maharishi's ultimate goal in establishing the Global Financial Capital at 70 Broad Street was to change the character of world finance, as well as the overall quality of American and global life. 'From our headquarters in New York we hope to transform America's fear-based economy to one of growing prosperity for the entire human race,' said Dr Morris. 'Within this building, amidst the dynamism and diversity of Manhattan, the most powerful citizens of America will be taught the Transcendental Meditation Technique,' he continued. 'In this way, the Global Financial Capital of New York will give way to a new brand of leadership in America, grounded in pure consciousness.'

Dr Morris concluded his opening remarks by thanking the architect, interior designer, construction workers, and others who contributed to the extensive renovations of 70 Broad Street.
