On 21 May 2005 Portland Press Herald reported: 'Imagine thousands of people in meditation, literally changing the world with the power of the mind.' This image was one presented by Roger and Katie Grose as they discussed their plans for a new Portland, Maine centre for the Transcendental Meditation Programme (TM) and eventually, a three million dollar 'Peace Palace'. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of world peace.

The Groses told reporter Trevox Maxwell that they had been involved in a study in 1993 in which 4,000 TM meditators gathered in Washington, DC. Official government statistics recorded that crime rates dropped 25 per cent during a single week.

'The city changed, and people were talking about it,' Katie Grose was quoted as saying. 'That was really a dramatic occasion—to see what the effects are.'

Roger Grose explained to Maxwell that TM, a simple, mental technique practised for 20 minutes twice a day, has been seen to improve health, and to increase productivity, intelligence, and creativity. He further noted that scientific studies have also shown that when practised collectively by large groups, TM can help bring world peace.

The centre that the Groses envision will include instruction in the TM technique, a health spa, and retail space for organic health products. The Groses explained in the interview that the new centre is just the beginning of the future of TM in Portland. They are raising money and looking for land for a Peace Palace.

'These are buildings that will offer the full range of programmes for people to be able to develop their own potential,' Roger Grose said. 'Our programmes facilitate enlightenment, which is everyone's birthright.'

Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
