Following the successful fundraising campaign, all the focus has gone to quickly creating an ideal campus for 500 peace-creating Vedic Scholars. The goal is to have everything in place by June. To achieve this goal we need everything to go smoothly and according to plan. That is why we wanted to share the detailed plan with you!

The campus consists of 11 clusters of four buildings each-a change from the seven buildings in the original plan. Each cluster for 44 scholars and their teachers will contain three residences and one classroom/dining building, with each building being 2280 square feet. Individual residences will house 16 students in eight bedrooms, with four baths, a kitchen, and a living room.

Even with fewer buildings, the campus will be more spacious. Total building space has increased from 81,000 square feet to 106,000 square feet. The buildings will be more energy efficient, economical-and comfortable. And the price is still within the budget!

Here is the plan for the coming months:

March is a big month for utilities and infrastructure. The ground has thawed allowing installation of underground electric service to each cluster and setting the transformers. Water and sewer lines are being engineered and will begin to be installed this month, continuing into April. The location of each building will be surveyed and engineering completed for grading the site for perfect Vastus. The detailed planning for the buildings will be completed by the end of March.

April will see the pouring of over 1400 concrete piers on which the buildings will be set. It will also see major construction of utilities including utility lines to each building and setting propane tanks. Although work with the factory has been going on for some time, the final order for the buildings is expected to be placed in April. The factory is so efficient that it can complete the first buildings in just a few weeks and we need to do a great deal of work on the site before the buildings arrive.

May will be a month when everything will suddenly rise up from the ground - buildings will arrive and be installed and the campus will begin to take shape. Major infrastructure like the underground sewer system will be completed in May. Practical features like tornado shelters will begin to be installed.

June

If the weather supports and everything goes as planned, June will see the construction completed and all the finishing touches-final grading, fences and landscaping coming into place. This will be a great time to join together to unpack the furniture and place it in the rooms and prepare everything perfectly for the Vedic Scholars' arrival.
