For the first time in many years, a new volume in the series—Scientific Research on Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme: Collected Papers, Volume 6—is being published.
This volume of over 1,000 pages contains 94 papers authored by 115 researchers from 45 universities, research institutes, governmental organizations, or corporations in 16 countries: Australia, Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Japan, Mozambique, the Netherlands, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Spain, United Kingdom, and United States.
A great benefit of the books in the Collected Papers series is that they make available in one volume the research that is otherwise scattered throughout many research journals. Eighty of the papers in this volume were previously published, 69 of them in journals, 6 in conference proceedings, and 5 in books. Of the remaining 14 papers or summaries, 6 were previously presented at academic conferences, 4 were summaries of university doctoral, masters, or bachelors theses, 1 is a research report of a governmental organization, and 3 are presented in the volume for the first time.
As in previous volumes in this series, the papers have been organized into four major parts—Physiology, Psychology, Sociology, and Theoretical and Review Papers. These four parts are further divided into a total of thirteen sections. Each of the sections begins with an introduction that summarizes the papers in that section.
To give a vision of the overall body of research contained in all six volumes in this series so far published, the beginning of this volume also reprints the list of research findings, foreword, and introduction of each of the previous five volumes, and a cumulative author index is printed at the end. A vision of Volume 7 of this series, which is in preparation, is also provided.
Together these research studies document the unprecedented and holistic development of individual life and society through Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation and Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme.
All six volumes in the Collected Papers series are available through Maharishi University of Management Press (www.mumpress.com).
