On 5 May 2005 Global Good News reported:
Like the Canadian web site healthtalk.com, which announced 'Transcendental Meditation - the ticket to a long healthy life', health publications and web sites around the globe are informing the public that Transcendental Meditation extends lifespan. Ivanhoe, an alternative health channel, reported that 'An 18 year study has found that Transcendental Meditation doesn't only help relieve stress, it reduces death rates by 23 per cent and extends life span.'
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of health.
The study, published in the 2 May issue of the Journal of American Cardiology, was also covered by Heart Center Online, WebMD, HealthandAge.com, HealthCentral.com, News-Medical.net, Medscape, and Medical News Today (UK).
Ivanhoe went on to note that the Transcendental Meditation Technique (TM), brought to the west by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, emphasizes the experience of restful alertness through twice daily practice. In the study, 202 elderly men and women with mildly elevated blood pressure were divided into groups that were either taught TM, given health education courses, or given behavioural techniques such as mindfulness or progressive muscle relaxation. The study followed the groups for 18 years.
The TM group showed a 23 per cent reduction in death rates compared to the other groups. Researchers also noted a 30 per cent drop in deaths from heart disease and a 49 per cent drop in deaths from cancer.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
