Dr Robert Wynne, Raja (Administrator) of Central Vedic America for the Global Country of World Peace and Mayor of Maharishi Vedic City, USA, discussed his city's basis for success; and he encouraged the implementation of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programme to eliminate world poverty by implementing Maharishi Vedic Organic Agriculture on billions of hectares of unused, arable land around the world.

Maharishi Vedic City was designed to put every one of Maharishi's Programmes in use, including Maharishi Sthapatya Veda, Vedic Architecture. Problems such as feeling ill-at-ease or uncomfortable and smelling toxic fumes in buildings are eliminated in Maharishi Sthapatya Veda buildings, which are mandated by law in Maharishi Vedic City. Every building is constructed in accord with Natural Law using 'principles that are laws of the science of the structure of the universe, applied to man-made structures. . . . When we take a walk in the woods,' Dr Wynne explained, 'we feel comfortable and relaxed in the embrace of Nature,' and we feel the same way in these buildings. 'We attempt to raise man-made constructions in any size or style, according to Nature's constructions.'

Dr Wynne related how Maharishi once said that we don't know from what corner disease may come in a house not built according to these principles. For example, buildings need to be aligned in the directions the earth rotates. Otherwise it is like trying to drive a car when sitting at a 45 degree angle to the road—it can be done, but it is difficult and uncomfortable.

'The pinnacle of human evolution is to be [established] at that level of Natural Law, the will of God,' Dr Wynne continued. 'All of Maharishi's programmes are to allow human beings to fulfil their potential, with every action perfect and spontaneously enriching every other aspect of creation.' Maharishi Vedic City is man-made, but is using all these programmes.

Dr Wynne said that, 'Not many city ordinances are necessary in Maharishi Vedic City because no laws are broken here; but in 2001 the City Council enacted an ordinance to invite
Vedic Pandits [peace-creating experts] because it is a Vedic city. In 2002 another ordinance banned non-organic food because they did not want to poison their people. Their organic greenhouses were established in 2003, with Vedic recitations being performed during the different growth stages of the plants; and by 2005 the entire city was declared an organic area.'

However, Dr Wynne pointed out, these projects pale beside the billions of hectares of land with agricultural potential around the world that can be utilized in Maharishi's Poverty Removal Programme. In areas where people earn one or two dollars a day, the Vedic Organic food they produce can be sold in more prosperous areas to 'raise their standard of life spontaneously as collective consciousness rises in the world.'
