On 12 September 2005 Pakistan Dawn reported:
The G-20 ministers' conference ended with a joint declaration calling on developed countries to show flexibility in their stance on agricultural issues. The conference was attended by representatives of 21 countries: Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, China, Cuba, Egypt, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Philippines, South Africa, Thailand, Tanzania, Uruguay, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.
Global Good News service views this news as a sign of rising positivity in the field of environment, documenting the growth of life-supporting, evolutionary trends.
The G-20 ministers reaffirmed their commitment to finish talks on the Doha Development Agenda (DDA) negotiations in 2006. The DDA aims to eliminate the trade-distorting policies in agriculture maintained by developed countries, and to help improve market access for diverse products around the world.
The ministers also called on developed countries (and especially major subsidizers), to respond to the G-20 proposals 'in a constructive way' and to commit themselves to the reform of their agricultural policies.
