For three years in a row, teams of MBA students at Maharishi University of Management (MUM) have placed in the top tenth percentile in a continent-wide business competition. In each year, they competed against many top ranking universities and business schools in North America.

The Foundation Business Experience Simulation, which Maharishi University of Management and other leading universities use to help train their MBA students, was created by the company Capsim.

According to the Capsim website, 'Foundation business simulation is an engaging introductory simulation designed to teach all the essential elements of running a business: finance, the cause and effect relationship between functional areas, satisfying customer demands, and competitive analysis.'

Professor Andrew Bargerstock, Director of the MBA with Accounting Specialization at Maharishi University of Management, praised the competition.

'This is something very new and different to these students who have become experts in accounting. . . . We're trying to prepare them for the future, not only to get an entry-level job but then to become part of the executive management team. As they grow and get more experience, they will have the opportunity to actually guide the growth and development of the business.'

He added that Maharishi University of Management's strong results in this simulation showcase the quality of education and quality of the graduates.

Some of the other schools that finished in the top tenth percentile along with Maharishi University of Management were University of Texas at Dallas, Villanova University, Drexel, and Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, regarded as one of the finest business schools in the country.

Professor Bargerstock concluded, 'The bottom line is: This is three years in a row that we've put people in the top tenth percentile in the foundation simulation. It's nice to have an outside organization that, in effect, helps assess the quality of preparation of our MBA [students].

'And we think this pattern of results demonstrates to the world the value of MUM's MBA programme* as we develop students with the consciousness and professional insights needed for successful participation as executives and entrepreneurs.'

* Among other special features of the unique approach to MBA education at MUM, students learn the most widely practised, extensively researched, and most effective method of self-development in the world. All students practise the simple, natural technique of Transcendental Meditation each day to improve learning ability, optimize brain functioning, and reduce stress.
