In March, Dr Bevan Morris, President of Maharishi University of Management, arrived in Nairobi, Kenya on his 14-country tour of Africa. He was welcomed there by teachers of Transcendental Meditation who helped arrange his tour in the country.

During his stay Dr Morris mainly focused on presenting the benefits of Consciousness-Based Education for Kenyan students and schools, including in meetings with several education leaders.

He gave a talk to an organization involved in developing curriculum for schools in Kenya. The talk caught the attention of the director, who had to leave in the middle for another meeting, but was so interested in what Dr Morris was saying that she rushed back to catch the end of the presentation.

After hearing about Transcendental Meditation and Consciousness-Based Education, she made several very astute comments, said Dr Morris. In reference to Consciousness-Based Education, she said (Dr Morris paraphrased):

'I understand this because I see that modern education is all about what is outside of you, and there is nothing in modern education that relates to the relationship of me to myself, to my inner self. That's what's missing.'

She went on to say:

'This is something universal. This is something that relates to the human being, to any human being. It's about the brain and the development of the brain. It's about intelligence and the development of intelligence.'

Expressing his appreciation for her insights, Dr Morris concluded, 'She really saw that this was something not narrowly confined to any group or culture or tradition; it was totally for the whole human race.'

As in each country so far on the tour, Dr Morris also met with local Transcendental Meditation teachers and meditators, inspiring them with news from around the world of the latest developments and achievements of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes and initiatives.

Among the Transcendental Meditation teachers who met with Dr Morris are a group of newly qualified young teachers who are very active in spreading the word about Maharishi's technologies of consciousness. Dr Morris praised all the teachers, saying, 'We have a really good team there in Kenya.'
