Global 12 January celebrations: Designing a new destiny of all mankind - Maharishi

The global celebration of 12 January by the Global Country of World Peace—inaugurating Maharishi's Fourth Year of Invincibility – Global Raam Raj*—featured the conclusion of the video of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's historic address from 12 January 1980.

In planning to distribute 'packages of knowledge' to help everyone become 'fully wide-awake' in pure knowledge, the total potential of Natural Law, Maharishi said,

'In this we will follow the advice that we have from the ''pocket edition'' of the Vedic Literature—the Bhagavad-Gita, the pocket edition of the book of pure knowledge. The book of pure knowledge is the Veda. Its commentaries are available in the Vedangas and Upangas, Smritis, Puranas, and Upaveda, and all the huge commentary.

'We are in a very fortunate position to design a new destiny of all mankind, and that is in probing deep in this structure of pure knowledge. Probing deep into the structure of pure knowledge means probing deep in our own Self, and for that, [in] the literature we start from Brahma Sutras, the field of Vyasa. Then on that basic knowledge of the wholeness of this structure of pure knowledge, we start the impulses of it, start on Jaimini, and Patanjali, and then the other systems, which satisfy intellect.

'On the experiential level alone can the field of pure knowledge be—it is meant for living in daily life. It was unfortunate that the Vedas became a decoration of libraries. Veda is consciousness, Veda is structured in consciousness. Always we are saying, knowledge is structured in consciousness. Veda is structured in consciousness. Study of Veda is the study of consciousness. Story of Veda is the story of consciousness—the story of ourselves.'

Maharishi went on to describe the programme through which groups of Transcendental Meditation Teachers would be 'probing deep into these different areas of pure knowledge'; and how packages of pure knowledge would be designed to be distributed for the benefit of everyone around the world—'finding proper homes, where this pure knowledge will live so that it breathes life comfortably in all parts of the world. The structure of pure knowledge has to be packaged nicely,' Maharishi said, because there would be 'only nice things in the dawning Age of Enlightenment we'll attract. So the different packages of pure knowledge—properly packaged, safely delivered, and comfortably housed, and made available for all the people in the area.'

Maharishi concluded by saying that on this day the assembly would go into all these different areas, and 'once we have done this in the first day, we have welcomed the Year of Pure Knowledge'.
