On 25 April 2010 DailyMotion.com reported: Award-winning filmmaker David Lynch recently spoke about how the Transcendental Meditation Programme has transformed schools worldwide. Mr Lynch described how violence disappears from even the worst schools. Students start getting along with each other, become more focussed and more interested in learning, and get better grades. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of education.

Mr Lynch said he originally started his David Lynch Foundation for three schools, and now about 20 schools in the US alone, and many more worldwide, have introduced the Transcendental Meditation Programme to the entire student body.

Over 100,000 students have learned Transcendental Meditation through the support of the Foundation.

'Some of these (US) schools were the worst in the state,' Mr Lynch told interviewer David Servan Schreiber, MD, PhD, during a recent trip to France.*

Before the programme was introduced at these schools, students and teachers had to deal with 'violence, shootings, stabbings, suicides, depression, pharmaceutical drugs, not [caring at all] about learning', he said.

These schools 'tried many many things—what they call surface cures—and they don't work. They don't address all that is inside the student, the kid. Suffering, stress [is] hitting kids at a younger and younger age.'

After students and teachers begin practising Transcendental Meditation, the school becomes 'a school you would really want to go to: grades go up, relationships improve, violence stops—because it's coming from within. People feel better, and they don't feel like killing their neighbour,' Mr Lynch said.

Creativity also blossoms, Mr Lynch continued. When he returned to a school that had introduced Transcendental Meditation, he found artwork displayed everywhere. Previously the school hadn't even offered an art class.

'It is just incredible,' Mr Lynch said of the transformation he has seen in diverse schools. Students 'start really enjoying life, and school does not seem so bad, and information is easier to take in and understand'.

After learning Transcendental Meditation, students notice an improvement 'almost overnight', Mr Lynch said.
