Dr Jose Luis Alvarez, Raja of Latin America for the Global Country of World Peace, recently reported on schools in Colombia that are introducing Consciousness-Based Education and Yogic Flying for their students.

Colombia is one of the major countries of Latin America, with a population of 43 million. 660 Yogic Flyers are required to create national invincibility, so it is a very important country in the continent of Latin America.

Dr Alvarez reported that last year Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, and Dr Benjamin Feldman, Minister of Finance and Planning, visited Colombia. Following this visit, the National Leader of Colombia for the Global Country of World Peace, along with Father Gabriel Mejilla and another Yogic Flyer who is a city Mayor, structured a programme to have enough Yogic Flyers on a permanent basis, to raise the nation to invincibility.

Three projects have been organized for having enough Yogic Flyers in Colombia. The third project is under the direct leadership of Father Gabriel Mejilla, who has arranged for a group of 150 Yogic Flyers

The institution of Father Gabriel Mejilla is dedicated to rehabilitation. Father Mejilla has understood that for any person who has difficulties, just the experience of broadening the mind to include the total brain provides the right basis for a new life.

Father Mejilla has said that what is interesting is that all these boys come from the street. Father Mejilla keeps the boys in his institution, where they learn Transcendental Meditation, and after some months, they learn the TM-Sidhi Programme and Yogic Flying. They immediately change, and the whole environment is so positive and so soft. This effect is felt by their families, which is very encouraging for them.

Father Mejilla is president of a foundation dedicated to rehabilitation, and he is very satisfied with the possibility of having this programme in his institution. He takes the programme very seriously. Dr Alvarez showed slides of this group of Yogic Flyers.

The next project Dr Alvarez spoke about was a municipality in the north of Colombia where the Mayor has been a Yogic Flyer for many years, and has taken great pride in implementing the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the public schools of his city.

In the last year, a group of 800 students have been practising Transcendental Meditation in the schools. A Spanish teacher of Transcendental Meditation who is now in Colombia, has been training the teachers, and they have Transcendental Meditation as part of class every day.

'The children find the practice very relaxing and very easy,' said Dr Alvarez, 'and they really feel much more lively. At the same time the school is much more quiet. That is what the teachers say. The school principal has reported to us that the TM programme is the only way to handle them in an easy way without any effort.'

This school is now starting the TM-Sidhi Programme with 300 students. The school has organized the necessary time for the course and also changed the curriculum so the students could have the time for twice daily practice of Yogic Flying in a group in the school. When this course is completed, the two groups of Yogic Flyers will create the required number for Colombia.

There is also a project in another city, where a sub-secretary in the department of education in the government, who practises Transcendental Meditation, has arranged for one school to start the programme with about 400 students. Three other schools are about to sign agreements to introduce the programme in their schools also. These schools will also include the Science of Creative Intelligence into the curriculum.

Colombia has been facing civil war in the nation for decades, creating difficulties both for the government and all the people. Dr Alvarez said that this now seems to be coming to an end with the creation of enough Yogic Flyers.

Dr Alvarez concluded by saying there are eight individuals who recently finished their Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course. They all now have the joy of seeing their country on the platform of invincibility.

All these very dedicated people, all the teachers and Yogic Flyers in Columbia, express their happiness to be able to participate in these activities.
