Absenteeism at a large urban public school in New England has dropped dramatically since the students and faculty began to practise Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation programme. Absenteeism used to be about 30-40 per cent every day, but among the students who have learned TM, it is only about four per cent.

Many students and faculty at the school have learned Transcendental Meditation and those who have not yet learned are eager to begin the practice.

After hearing their peers' experiences with Transcendental Meditation, the junior class at the school has asked when they will be able to learn TM.

The faculty is also very happy with the addition of the TM technique to the school. One teacher wants his entire class to learn TM, and another wants to have 100 incoming students learn TM next year and participate in a study comparing their academic achievements with students not practising TM.
