Netherlands (Reuters) - As stock markets fall, and the credit crunch bites, Dutch ethical investment bank Triodos has seen a rise in the number of people opening bank accounts.

Ethical bank, Triodos, says it is offering customers an alternative way to invest their funds.

Triodos says it invests in projects that are sustainable, ecological and maintain social corporate responsibility.

The bank was set up in the Netherlands in the 1980s with a startup fund of 540,000 euros (738,000 USD).

It now has branches across Europe.
