Invincible Defense Technology began when leaders in the organization teaching Transcendental Meditation started researching a noticeable influence of peace spreading from groups practising TM and its advanced program, the TM-Sidhi program. This influence of calmness and coherence has been validated in over two dozen peer-reviewed studies conducted in both developed and developing nations.

This powerful, peace-creating initiative has gained the title of ''a brain-based approach to peace''.

Experience with IDT in war-torn areas of the globe have demonstrated increased economic incentive and growth of prosperity. Entrepreneurship and individual creativity increase. With increased civic calm, people's aspirations are raised and a more productive and balanced society emerges. Such a society abhors violence as a means for change or as an expression of discontent. With this the ground for terrorism is eliminated.

What is more fascinating is that this change takes place within a few days or weeks after IDT is introduced. The changes are measurable from such statistics as crime rates, accidents, hospital admissions, infant mortality, etc. The changes are measurable from such statistics as crime rates, accidents, hospital admissions, infant mortality, etc.

The IDT soldier's daily routine includes the practice of the TM technique and its advanced TM-Sidhi program. As a societal coherence-creating military unit, soldiers practice these techniques together in a group twice a day, seven days a week, preferably in a secure location near the targeted population. Their presence need not be disclosed to achieve the effect of violence reduction and conflict resolution.

Dr. David Leffler, director of the Invincible Defense Technology organization, recently asked selected publications if they would be interested in an article about IDT as developed under the guidance of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Some publications not only expressed interest in publishing an article on the topic of military deployment of IDT, but went ahead and published Dr. Leffler's query letter.

Dr Leffler commented: ''We see a universal concern in the media about the grave dangers faced in various high-tension areas of the world . . . they are now open to the great potential that Maharishi's Invincible Defense Technology provides to quickly save many lives and prevent great suffering, at nominal cost. Perhaps this explains why they opted to publish my query letter in lieu of waiting for the actual article that I was proposing to send in the future.''

Media that published Dr. Leffler's letter included:

Dr. Leffler, incidentally, still plans on writing this letter along with Lt. Gen. Clarence E. McKnight (Ret.), who studied TM in the early 1970's when he worked with the late Major General Franklin M. Davis, Jr., U.S. Army (Ret.) at the US Army War College.

Lt. Gen. McKnight fondly recalls Maharishi predicting the military would be the first to implement his programs on a large scale, and how Maharishi inspired people in believing that ''now is the time to be bold.'' McKnight told Dr. Leffler how impressed he was with Maharishi's warrior mindset when they met at one of the conferences for the Science of Creative Intelligence.

Lt. Gen. McKnight and Dr. Leffler have previously coauthored an article on PTSD and TM that was published in The Hill, a highly respected publication based in Washington D.C: ''Use a treatment for PTSD that actually works''
