The World Association for Vedic Studies (WAVES) conference is the largest and most prestigious academic conference on Vedic Studies, and they have chosen to host their 11th international conference at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.
More than 100 Vedic scholars and thought leaders from around the world will come together at MUM, July 31 - August 3, for a seminal conference, ''Vedic Living in a Modern World.''
Topics will include Maharishi's Vedic Science, Yoga, AyurVeda, higher states of consciousness, reflections on the various Vedic texts, Vedic perspectives on women's issues, the impact of Veda on Greek philosophy, Ramayana as a treatise on leadership, Adi Shankara's exposition on the attainment of Brahman, and much more.
The MUM Argiro Student Center will be the venue for the conference that will begin on Thursday evening, July 31, at 7:00 with an recitation by Maharishi Vedic Pandits. The inaugural keynote address will be delivered by Dr Girish Momaya, Director of Maharishi Vedic University, Netherlands, on the topic of Vedanta.
MUM faculty presentations include keynote addresses by Dr John Hagelin and Dr Fred Travis on Friday evening, August 1. Esteemed Indian guests, including internationally renowned peace advocate Ved Prakash Nanda, Director of the International Legal Studies program at the University of Denver, will give keynote addresses on Saturday evening, August 2.
Several special features of this conference make this event of interest not only to academics, but to the general public as well. Pandit Nandkishor Muley, a world-renowned Indian santoor maestro, will be performing on Sunday afternoon, August 3, in Dalby Hall, and will be followed by live Vedic recitations by Maharishi Vedic Pandits.
