The rising success around the world of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's programmes to benefit all areas of society was the focal point of a recent conference in the Netherlands.
Dr Bevan Morris, an international expert in the application of Maharishi's programmes, who serves as Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace,* gave the keynote address to an annual conference of national directors of the Transcendental Meditation programme from many countries, gathered at Maharishi European Research University (MERU) in Holland.
His address summarized many of these achievements, which he experienced firsthand during tours of 52 countries on almost every continent over the past 18 months. He also met with leaders of many nations, presenting the solutions offered by Maharishi's technologies of consciousness to the critical problems facing their governments and people.
Dr Morris spoke in depth about the powerful atmosphere of peace and coherence generated by the large group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits in residence at the Global Capital of World Peace** in the centre (Brahmasthan) of India, through their daily performance of special peace-creating technologies of consciousness brought to light by Maharishi. Increasing the size of this group to 9,000 Vedic Pandits—to extend this effect of peace and harmony to the whole of world consciousness—is the 'greatest goal' of the worldwide initiative to implement Maharishi's programme to create world peace, Dr Morris said.
Another great lighthouse of coherence for the world is Latin America, which has seen extraordinary progress in establishing very large coherence-creating groups of advanced Transcendental Meditation practitioners in many countries—in schools, colleges, businesses, and in military and security forces. Dr Morris especially praised the work of Father Gabriel Mejia, a Catholic priest who has established such groups in shelters and schools for at-risk children throughout the continent through his Hogares Claret Foundation.
In Asia Dr Morris also visited China, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Bali; in Oceania, the Solomon Islands, Fiji, New Zealand, and his home country of Australia; and several countries in Europe.
He also noted achievements of special significance from his tour of 14 African countries last year, celebrating the Golden Jubilee 50th anniversary of Maharishi's programmes on the continent.
In North America, Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield and nearby Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa, together constitute another centre of scientific and educational achievements, as well as national and global coherence.
Dr Morris concluded the 90-minute address—which could only touch briefly on the high points from each country, he said; a full report would take many hours—by again emphasizing a major priority of organizations teaching Maharishi's programmes around the world: to strengthen and expand the large coherence-creating groups in India, North and South America, and establish groups in every country—to ensure an invincible state of happiness, prosperity, ideal health, and permanent peace for the whole world family.
Global Good News will report more about some of the projects featured in Dr Morris's keynote address. In the days following, directors of the Transcendental Meditation programme in many countries also reported on achievements and plans for the coming year.
* The Global Country of World Peace was founded by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as a consortium of educational organizations in more than 100 countries working to create a new era of peace, progress, and prosperity in our world family. It is a 'nation without borders', a home for peace-loving people everywhere. It is a non-political, non-religious global organization and does not usurp or replace any of the functions of existing governments.
** On 12 January 2008 Maharishi designated the Global Capital at the Brahmasthan of India as the Global Capital of Raam Raj (administration through Natural Law).
