Jeffrey Abramson: Transcending green

On 27 October 2011 Garrison Institute reported: Jeffrey Abramson, partner in the Tower Companies, spoke at the Garrison Institute's 2011 Symposium on Climate, Buildings, and Behavior, describing his company's building practice rooted in Vedic architecture. Mr Abramson posed the question: Can we get people to think and act in a way that is spontaneously in accord with natural law by employing architecture and design that is in accord with natural law? In addition to constructing a LEED platinum certified office building, Mr Abramson wanted to go beyond green, and incorporated Vedic architectural design principles in the Tower Companies' new head office at 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard in Rockville, MD, USA. 

His talk at the Garrison Institute illustrated key aspects of the Tower Companies' approach, as described on their website—including their mission to 'develop eco-progressive real estate that transcends traditional approaches to the built environment, teach people how to engage with their surroundings, promote the balance of body and mind, optimize human achievement, and treat the planet with respect.'

The Tower Companies' Vedic architecture design adheres to principles of natural law which incorporate orientation, placement, and proportion, in order to improve occupant health and enhance job performance and success.

Mr Abramson also explained why it makes good business sense to invest in the health and well-being of employees, by not only providing a work environment built in accord with natural law, but also offering them the Transcendental Meditation program. These progressive approaches have helped the Tower Companies reduce stress, improved morale, increased output, reduced health insurance costs, and improved the company's bottom line.
