Breaking ground for Maharishi Center for Perfect Health and World Peace: 'A perpetual phenomenon in nature' - Maharishi, 1 September 1991

A highlight of the international celebration 21 August of the awakening of Total Knowledge, Brahm, Totality, traditionally known as the festival of Krishna Janmashtami in the Vedic calendar, was the audio replay of a historic address by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi on this occasion on 1 September 1991.

Maharishi was celebrating the groundbreaking for one important area—'Mandala Two'—of the Maharishi Center for Perfect Health and World Peace in Fairfield, Iowa, USA.

In January 1991, Maharishi established the Maharishi Center to offer health care programmes based on Maharishi Ayur-Veda, to bring ideal health and enlightenment to individuals.

At the same time, the Center's programmes would provide the setting for large groups of people practising Transcendental Meditation and its advanced programmes, including Yogic Flying, to create a continuous influence of coherence and harmony in collective consciousness.

Maharishi founded the Center with the ultimate goal of creating a group of 7,000 Yogic Flyers, to ensure integrated national consciousness for the US and permanent peace in the world.*

In his address in September 1991, Maharishi referred to the overall design of the Maharishi Center—consisting of 10 circular plots of land, or ''Mandalas''. He commented at length and in great depth, giving a beautiful discourse on the profound significance of this 'groundbreaking of the second Mandala' by Dr Bevan Morris, Present of Maharishi University of Management—in light of the structure of the Veda and Vedic literature, from the perspective of Maharishi's Vedic Science.

* The area of land designated for the Maharishi Center was the foundation for the subsequent establishment of Maharishi Vedic City, which became the home of the Invincible America Assembly, a coherence-creating group of 2,000 Yogic Flyers established by Maharishi in 2006 to create an invincible state of peace, progress, good health, and prosperity for the whole nation.
