12 January 2011
The global 12 January celebrations of the Global Country of World Peace, inaugurating 2011 as Maharishi's Fourth Year of Invincibility – Global Raam Raj,* were honoured by the presence of a great spiritual leader of India, Swami Devanand Saraswati Maharaj, Bhagwan Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, at the Global Capital of World Peace in the Brahmasthan (geographical centre) of India.
The Shankaracharya is also Patron of the Brahmanand Saraswati Trust, the organization Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, established in January 2008 to secure permanent peace and invincibility for all mankind, by perpetually supporting groups of Maharishi Vedic Pandits throughout India and around the world.
The Shankaracharya holds one of four seats of knowledge established in antiquity by the great Adi Shankara in the four regions of India—north, south, east and west. Jyotir Math, in the Himalayas, is the seat of the Shankaracharya in the north; in the mid-twentieth century this seat was held by Maharishi's spiritual teacher, Guru Dev.**
In the structure of enlightened leadership Maharishi designed for the Brahmanand Saraswati Trust, the Patron of the Trust will always be the Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math.
Inaugurating the 12 January celebration, Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country, expressed the great appreciation of all the leaders and members of the Global Country assembled in India and connected via video conference in MERU, Holland and around the world, to celebrate this day in the presence of the Shankaracharya and of Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, honoured by Maharishi as First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace.
Following traditional Vedic recitations by a large group of Maharishi Vedic Pandits at the Brahmasthan of India, Dr Girish Varma, Director-General of the Global Capital and National Director of Maharishi's programmes in India, invited the Shankaracharya to address the assembly.
The Shankaracharya's address included recitations from the Vedic Literature. He reflected at length and with great respect on Maharishi's unprecedented achievements in the world. After the Shankaracharya spoke, Prof Bhuvnesh Sharma, Vice Chancellor of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Vedic Vishwavidyalaya (Maharishi Vedic University) in India, summarized highlights of his address in English.
The Shankaracharya recounted examples from Maharishi's lifelong activities to bring the total knowledge of Natural Law to everyone in the world. Many decades ago, he said, when Maharishi first came to study with his teacher, no one anticipated that such a young student would establish the administration of Natural Law in the whole world. At this time Maharishi was taking care of many administrative matters, and he took the resolution to bring out this complete knowledge of Vedic wisdom he had gained from his teacher all over the world.
Maharishi not only established this resolution, the Shankaracharya said, but brought it into practice, through practical programmes making use of the applied technologies of ancient Vedic science, which are being implemented worldwide to transform every area of individual life and the life of the world. There is no other example of such a person anywhere who has brought this complete knowledge to the whole world, he said.
Referring to the four seats of knowledge established by Adi Shankara—to bring the knowledge in all four directions in India, and as if to the whole world, the Shankaracharya said that Maharishi had singlehandedly spread the knowledge throughout the world.
Maharishi carried out this deep resolution through his more than 50 years lifelong work, the Shankaracharya said—in his one-pointed focus often forgetting everything else, even going for days without remembering to eat. Having received the seed of this knowledge from the Vedic tradition, achieved the complete revitalization of Vedic wisdom, and trained a new generation of leadership for the world in administration through Natural Law—in honouring the Shankaracharya as the Patron of the Brahmanand Saraswati Trust, Maharishi presented all of this once again to the seat of the tradition.
After the Shankaracharya's address, Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam expressed his great esteem and deep appreciation for this great custodian of the Vedic tradition of knowledge, honouring the assembly with his presence and honouring Maharishi on this day. The speech of the Shankaracharya enlivened total Natural Law through his profound recitation of the sounds of the Veda, Maharaja said.
Global Good News will feature highlights of Maharaja's address, in which he upheld the Shankaracharya's theme of Maharishi's unprecedented achievement in bringing total Vedic wisdom to everyone throughout the world; as well as reports of achievements and plans by leaders of the Global Country of World Peace during the 12 January celebrations.
* Administration through total Natural Law, Heaven on Earth.
** Guru Dev: Brahmanand Saraswati, Jagatguru Shankaracharya of Jyotir Math, Himalayas, and Maharishi's spiritual teacher. Guru Dev is honoured as the embodiment of Vedic wisdom closest to Maharishi in the illustrious tradition of Vedic Masters who have passed down the eternal wisdom of life from teacher to student throughout time.
