On 25 September, a gala event will take place at Maharishi Invincibility Centres* throughout the United States to inspire support for bringing the Transcendental Meditation Programme to local citizens with strong financial need, military veterans with PTSD, at-risk youth in inner-city schools, and prison inmates and guards.
Over 90 Invincibility Centres throughout the nation will be hosting the event, 'A National Gala Evening of Knowledge and Celebration', and several thousand guests will be attending nationwide.
Guests will enjoy a national webcast by acclaimed filmmaker Dr David Lynch; Dr John Hagelin, National Director of the Transcendental Meditation Programme in the US; and legendary singer-songwriter Donovan. Dr Lynch is founder and chairman of the David Lynch Foundation, which provides generous support for initiatives to bring Transcendental Meditation to at-risk populations in the US and around the world.
In addition to a dinner and entertainment, local celebrations will feature engaging activities such as silent auctions. 'These will provide guests and community members a creative opportunity to show their support for the initiative,' commented Dr Adam Pressman, National Director of Video Production for the programme in the US, in a recent report.** Items being contributed for auction might include professional services in health-related fields, landscaping, or computer technology; gift certificates; tickets to theater or sporting events; or weekends at a resort.
'The ultimate aim is to make Transcendental Meditation universally available, so that all can benefit from the transformational, life-giving experience of transcending,' said Dr Pressman.
* Maharishi Invincibility Centres in major cities around the world offer the knowledge and programmes of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, including the Transcendental Meditation Programme, to promote enlightenment for every individual and invincibility for every nation through development of full potential in every area of life.
** Dr Pressman's report was featured on the 14 September 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
