On 16 May, the auspicious Day of Lasting Achievements, Akshaya Tritiya in the Vedic Calendar, well-wishers and leaders of the Global Country of World Peace in nations around the world raised the flag of the Global Country.

'Maharishi Mahesh Yogi explained that this is one of the most important days in the Vedic Calendar,' said Raja Paul Potter, Raja of Invincible Canada.

According to the Vedic Literature, Akshaya Tritiya was the day when the ancient Rishis (sages) performed the first Yagya (Vedic performance to awaken total Natural Law). This event also marked the beginning of a time when people lived happily in tune with Natural Law. The special quality of this day is expressed in the word Akshaya, which means 'undecaying' or 'everlasting'. The performance of the Maharishi Vedic Pandits on this special day awakens these beautiful qualities in individual consciousness and world consciousness, Raja Paul explained.

The celebration continued 'the tradition that Maharishi began for this Day of Lasting Achievements, when it's most auspicious to begin a new initiative of expansion of Maharishi's programmes,' Raja Paul said. 'On this day the leaders . . . all around the world raised the flag of invincibility, the flag of the Global Country of World Peace, at noon in every country.'

Raja Paul presented beautiful photographs of this event taken in countries around the world, and read the achievements, goals, and wishes sent by Global Country of World Peace leaders in these nations.

Leaders in Guyana reflected on Maharishi's comment that Guyana is Gyan, pure knowledge.  They expressed wishes for this quality to be enlivened more and more this year, and for always in Guyana.

Raja John Konhaus, Raja of Invincible Japan, was present at the flag-raising ceremony. Japan's celebrations also included planting a tree.

Leaders in Lithuania reported on plans for expansion of Maharishi's programmes in the nation and presented a group photo of new practitioners of the Transcendental Meditation Programme.

Raja Paul also presented flag-raising ceremonies in
Hong Kong
Czech Republic

In the coming days, Global Good News will feature the continuation of Raja Paul Potter's report about Akshaya Tritiya celebrations around the world.
