The Transcendental Meditation Technique will soon be utilized in large-scale rehabilitation programmes in three Latin American countries--Guyana, Guatemala, and Argentina.
In Guyana, the programme is starting with 200-300 at-risk students, reported Raja Jose Luis Alvarez, Raja of Invincible Latin America for the Global Country of World Peace.*
In Guatemala, it has been requested that all prison inmates have the opportunity to learn the Transcendental Meditation Programme.
In Argentina as well, there is great demand for the scientifically verified benefits of Transcendental Meditation to be offered as a means of rehabilitation in prisons.
There is also interest in two Latin American countries to offer Transcendental Meditation to the police.
Transcendental Meditation will be particularly beneficial for the police in these countries, Raja Luis said, because they are highly militarized and they are the first to deal with the most stressful situations of society.
All these programmes will include group practice of Transcendental Meditation twice a day, Raja Luis said.
* Raja Luis' report was featured on the 24 February 2010 Maharishi Global Family Chat, broadcast daily via Internet webcast on the Maharishi Channel, Channel 3. Podcasts of the daily Global Family Chat (audio track) are also now available for automatic download, via an RSS feed.
