Invincibility in magnanimity: Global Assembly enjoys historic address of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi from July 1980

5 August 2009
The global Guru Purnima Assembly in July in MERU, Holland featured many beautiful, historic addresses of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, on Guru Purnima from past years.
On the second day of the Assembly, 5 July 2009, everyone enjoyed a video replay of Maharishi's address from Guru Purnima on 27 July 1980, Maharishi's Year of Pure Knowledge, the Veda.
Following the video, Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, summarized and commented on Maharishi's address:
'After his Puja [Vedic ceremony of gratitude] to Guru Dev* with everyone, in his Year of Pure Knowledge, 1980, Maharishi explained that celebration of Guru Dev is a cosmic phenomenon. The day of Guru Dev is the day of Fullness. It is the day of enlightenment, it is the day of the structure of Pure Knowledge, it is the day of the infinite, eternal, immortal field of all possibilities.
'Maharishi recorded so many breakthroughs over all the previous years—first with Transcendental Consciousness being revealed, then all the seven states of consciousness,** and then in this way, after thousands of years, he said, Pure Knowledge is getting awake.
'The result had been a great purification of world consciousness, from stress and strain predominant, to harmony rising. The great appeal of this Guru Purnima day, Maharishi said, was to go higher in the experience of the Sidhis***. . . . And he expressed also the need for a big place for all the Sidhas [Yogic Flyers] to be together, and more and more people to be participating in the programme.
'He explained that we are the custodians of Daivi Shakti—as expressed in Yasmin Deva adhi vishve nisheduh—all the Devas [administering intelligence of Natural Law] that reside in the Akshara, in the Transcendental reality—we are the custodians of that. We are so fortunate to have this day, Maharishi said, with all those assembled in the grand hall in Seelisberg**** that day—but also all the Teachers of Transcendental Meditation and all the Yogic Flyers everywhere.
'Maharishi spoke of how, on that day, all the flags of the world were adoring Guru Dev, and he rang the Bell of Invincibility.
'Then Maharishi gave a great secret for how we can all together accomplish anything, and that is in the expression from the Vedic Literature:
'Saha nav avatu Saha nau bhunaktu Saha viryam karavavahai Tejaswi nav adhitam astu Ma vidwishavahai
'Let us be together Let us eat together Let us be vital together Let us be radiating truth, radiating the light of life. Never shall we denounce anyone, never entertain negativity.*****
'This beautiful pledge that Maharishi had everyone recite expresses the reality, Maharishi said, of how we will not create turbulence anywhere, or doubt anything, and as a result maintain togetherness. And by maintaining togetherness, we'll be able to radiate coherence and function on the slippery ground of infinite correlation. We are invincible as a group, so we never allow the taint of difference to taint our group. Like five fingers together, different sizes and shapes, but they all make a grip. So this is how we function in togetherness, not finding difference.
'On that ground, going deep within, the Teachers of Transcendental Meditation desiring, then we can achieve everything whatsoever, all the great goals for the world. This included, Maharishi said, that if our neighbor can't do it, we'll do it for him. This is just a natural functioning of the Laws of Nature.
'The basis of this is a huge cosmic concord amongst all of us, and then all the huge concerns of the world can be taken care of, political, economic, religious, on that level of our togetherness: do something to ourself, turn within, radiate light, change the world.
'This was Maharishi's beautiful advice to all of us. And looking to others, if there is something lacking there, we have sympathy, and view the others as lively waves of our own Self. That is our performance.
'This is just like, he said, how the rulers of the world have a fort to protect them. Our fort is togetherness. It is the integrity of the group, and anything that is not evolutionary around us, we just have quiet indifference, and warm reception of things that are useful. Just like when we buy the rose, we buy the thorn. But we just enjoy the rose, and don't mind the thorn.
'To be in this togetherness is easy for us, because we are growing in the simplest form of awareness, through our practice. And when in togetherness, the great wishes that we have—like, Maharishi mentioned, Sidhalands, universities, and ideal villages for every million people in the world******—all these wishes will be upheld by the total potential of Natural Law, all our cosmic desires. So we just be in line with Natural Law, and everything will grow.
'We don't scorn at anyone, or feel non-good with anyone. We know that strong is our desire, therefore it is not good to scorn at anyone. Always excuse people if they have not found their way. Maharishi gave the analogy of the oceans—how the rivers may pour mud into the ocean, but the mud settles down in the ocean, and the ocean provides clean waves for all the ships. It does not flow the mud onto anyone else.
'So this is our behaviour—natural, simple strength, invincibility in magnanimity—in that enormous status of ours, we will create a grand success to everyone in the world. . . .
'So we bind together to achieve every desire, through the instrumentality of Natural Law, and collectively we are going to accomplish every desire,' Dr Morris said, concluding his summary of Maharishi's beautiful address from Guru Purnima in July 1980.

** Maharishi explains that beyond the familiar states of waking, dreaming, and sleeping are four higher states of consciousness—Transcendental Consciousness, Cosmic Consciousness, God Consciousness, and Unity Consciousness—each bringing a new dimension of experience, knowledge, and fulfilment.
***Sidhis: Techniques of the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying—Technologies of Consciousness Maharishi brought out from the Vedic Tradition of knowledge to allow everyone to rise quickly to higher states of consciousness and enjoy life in enlightenment.

***** Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace, began his address on Guru Purnima Day, 7 July 2009, with this expression.
******Sidhalands, ideal villages (also known as Maharishi Peace Colonies): Communities founded to help create invincibility for a nation, based on the principles of Maharishi's Vedic Science and its practical applications for living perfection in all areas of life—and featuring a Maharishi Peace Palace, Maharishi School; Maharishi Ayur-Veda Health Centre, homes, and buildings for group practice of Yogic Flying—all built according to Vedic Architecture, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda. Maharishi also envisioned Sidhalands as including large businesses or Vedic organic agriculture farms where all the employees practise his Technologies of Consciousness.
