11 January 2009
In 2008, new construction according to Maharishi Vedic Architecture was in progress or completed throughout the United States—including four new Peace Colonies, eight new Maharishi Peace Palaces, 33 new residences for Maharishi Vedic Pandits, a 200,000 square-foot commercial office building, and a new student centre at Maharishi University of Management.
Dr Eike Hartmann, Minister of Architecture for the Global Country of World Peace, summarized the achievements of the past year on 8 January 2009.
Peace Colonies In the United States construction of four new Peace Colonies* has begun, with one in Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa; one in Florida; Cypress Village in Jefferson County, Iowa; and Dr Howard Settle's** Sunrise Estates, in Kentucky.
Peace Palaces Eight Maharishi Peace Palaces have been completed or nearly completed in the United States: Two in Fairfield, Iowa; one in Maharishi Vedic City, Iowa; two in Livingston Manor, New York; one in Minnesota; one in Texas; and one in Kansas, at the Brahma-Sthan (geographical centre) of America—the first building for Maharishi Central University.
Vedic Pandit campus In Maharishi Vedic City, there was a great expansion on the Vedic Pandit campus, including construction of 33 homes for an additional 660 Vedic Pandits, four Mandaps***, and halls for the practice of Yogic Flying. A northeastern lake—which is very auspicious according to the principles of Maharishi Vedic Architecture—was also added to the campus.
Tower II On the commercial level, Tower II was inaugurated. The glorious 200,000 square foot (nearly 61,000 square metre), nine-storey office building near Washington, DC was inaugurated by Dr Jeffrey Abramson, real estate developer and partner in The Tower Companies. He won many awards and received regional and national press coverage for Tower II, which utilizes principles of both Maharishi Sthapatya Veda and green building.
Argiro Student Center At Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, the impressive Argiro Student Center was inaugurated and is now being enjoyed by the students.
Global Good News will feature new Maharishi Vedic Architecture construction from around the world in the coming days.
*Maharishi Peace Colony: A community founded to help create invincibility for a nation, based on the principles of Maharishi's Vedic Science and its practical applications for living perfection in all areas of life—featuring homes and buildings for group practice of Yogic Flying—all built according to Vedic Architecture, Maharishi Sthapatya Veda.
**Dr Howard Settle, founder of the Howard and Alice Settle Foundation for an Invincible America.
