Maharishi's programmes, inaugurated in France in 1963, continue to expand and promote national invincibility

During the continuing celebration of Guru Purnima in MERU, Holland, Dr Dominique Lemoine, National Director of France for the Global Country of World Peace, gave a report highlighting past and current achievements in his country. His talk was featured on the Maharishi Global Family Chat 10 August 2008.

Reflecting on Guru Purnima and France, Dr Lemoine said he wanted to highlight the history of Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation organization in the nation.

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, first came to France in 1963 and gave a beautiful speech on peace which one can read in Maharishi's book The Science of Being and Art of Living, Dr Lemoine said. Maharishi also started to teach Transcendental Meditation in the north of France.

When Maharishi began to offer the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme large courses were held in the French Alps and several other locations in France. Later, in 1983, Maharishi held a large World Peace Assembly of Yogic Flyers in the nation.

Several thousand people from around the world took the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course in France, Dr Lemoine noted.

Currently, Dr Lemoine reported, approximately 40,000 people in France have learned Transcendental Meditation, 300 have become Transcendental Meditation Teachers, and 2,650 have learned the Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme, including Yogic Flying.

Dr Lemoine praised the founders of the Transcendental Meditation organization in France. He also described the momentum created by Dr David Lynch's visit last October.

World renowned filmmaker David Lynch was honoured by President Sarkozy with the Legion d'Honneur (Legion of Honour) during a grand ceremony at the Elysee presidential palace in Paris on 1 October. Dr Lynch and Dr Lemoine had the opportunity to offer the president national invincibility in the form of a beautiful project for 800 Yogic Flyers to create invincibility in France.

With Directors established in 12 areas, Dr Lemoine continued, there is a new dynamism in France for Maharishi's programmes.

Dr Lemoine highlighted the current focus on the proposed establishment of a permanent invincibility group on land that has been acquired at the Brahmasthan—geographical centre—of the nation. The nation's Yogic Flyers have given their full support, including significant investment commitments, to development of the land for this purpose. They also hope to have a group of Vedic Pandits there, Dr Lemoine said.
