Speaking 13 August 2008 on Maharishi Global Family Chat, Dr Bevan Morris, Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace, presented a newly completed book by Dr Craig Pearson, Executive Vice President of Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, titled, The Complete Book of Yogic Flying.

In Part I of this article, Dr Morris showed several photos from the book's opening pages, as well as an introductory quotation from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace. Continuing with his presentation, Dr Morris read the book's Foreword by Dr David Lynch, filmmaker and founder of the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace:

'If we could picture the world as a tree, we'd see an unhealthy tree—the leaves would be turning yellow and brown. Each leaf represents some problem, and today we face hundreds of thousands of different problems. There are good-willed people doing things to solve problems; there are great charities and committees working for all sorts of things, and people thinking about all sorts of solutions. But it's all on the level of the leaves, trying to take care of one leaf at a time. If by chance we get one leaf green, we turn around and many more are growing sick . . . . Maharishi has a famous phrase: ''Water the root to enjoy the fruit''. This means that, getting nourishment from the most basic level, the whole tree blossoms automatically. . . .'

Dr Lynch went on to say in his Foreword that, in contacting the most basic level of our own awareness, the level of pure consciousness, we will achieve enlightenment as individuals, and bring invincibility to the world. We can accomplish these goals, respectively, with Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Technique and with coherence-creating Yogic Flying groups. 'These groups are peace-creating factories, utilizing the greatest machines on earth: human beings,' he wrote. We are built to dive within and experience the Unified Field—to enliven unity, thus dispelling all negativity. Without pure consciousness, we can only remedy problems on the surface level, but through Maharishi's techniques, we can bring about real change.

'We must pass this knowledge on to our children,' Dr Lynch asserted in the concluding lines of his Foreword. 'This is why I started the David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace: so that our children could become the world's permanent peace-creators. . . .'

After praising these opening words from Dr Lynch as 'beautifully expressing the reality of Maharishi's Technologies of Consciousness,' Dr Bevan went on to list the remaining sections and chapters of Dr Craig Pearson's work, which include a preface by Dr Douglass Birx, Transcendental Meditation Sidhi Programme Administrator, Chapters 1 through 24, an afterward by Dr Morris himself, Supplemental Material, Appendixes I and II, Bibliography, Scientific research on the Maharishi Effect, References, End Notes, For further Information, Acknowledgments, Index, About the Author, and Comments on the book.

The following is a list of Chapters 1-10 with their titles, which Dr Morris read to inspire viewers about the book's contents:

1. Section 1: Nations Rising to Invincibility
Section 2: Diving Within: The Vedic Technologies of Consciousness

2. Yogic Flying: Lift-Off

3. Techniques for Transcending: Bringing Ancient Knowledge to Light

4. Awakening the Unbounded Potential of the Human Brain, the Most Sophisticated Structure in the Universe

5. Waking Up from the Waking State: Higher States of Consciousness

6. Section 1: Unprecedented Outcomes: Modern Science Measures the Growth of Enlightenment
Section 2: Fulfilling Desires: Harnessing Total Natural Law

7. Pure Consciousness: The Unified Field of all the Laws of Nature

8. From Hard Work to Softest Thought: Engaging Natural Law to Work for You

9. Mastering Gravity: The Physics of Flying

10. The Individual is Cosmic: Discovering the Eternal Blueprint of Human Physiology

Dr Morris concluded his presentation in citing Dr Pearson's explanation of the three stages of Yogic Flying, which Maharishi has mentioned many times: hopping, floating, and flying. Dr Pearson writes that, with the current level of stress in the world, the flying stage has not yet come. However, with the gradual lifting of this collective stress, made possible through large groups of Yogic Flyers practising together, the time for flying grows nearer.

Dr Morris indicated several paintings featured in the book, which portrayed Yogic Flyers from the ancient Vedic Tradition, as well as from traditions in Europe and China—each of them in full flight. 'We hope to be up in the air with them very soon,' he said.
