2 March 2008
On 2 March 2008 The Chronicle Herald Nova Scotia reported:
In the area around Kentville, Nova Scotia more people have learned the Transcendental Meditation Technique (TM) per capita than almost anywhere in the world, according to Transcendental Meditation teacher Peter Cameron.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of world peace.
Cameron, who became a Transcendental Meditation teacher in the 1970s, said the meditation technique is practised twice daily.
The Chronicle Herald quoted him as saying, 'It's a purely mental technique. It can be done anywhere you can sit comfortably and where your attention is free to go to quieter levels of thought.'
Maharishi Mahesh Yogi brought the technique to the West in the 1950s. Cameron said that the late Maharishi 'will be remembered as the person who bridged the gap between ancient wisdom and modern science'.
Cameron stated that happiness is based on a person's 'quality of consciousness'.
'This technique improves the quality of consciousness from the level of brain physiology in a scientifically measurable way,' he explained.
Richard Hennigar of Sheffield Mills, a practitioner of Transcendental Meditation for over 30 years, was quoted by the Chronicle Herald as saying, 'This is not hard work. (The practice of TM) promotes the capacity of human physiology to work at its optimum level.'
He also stated that, according to scientific evidence, when a concentrated number of people practice Transcendental Meditation in an area, then all the people around them benefit by having a better quality of life.
'Life just goes better if you meditate,' he was quoted as saying.
