Israel welcomes David Lynch: Highlights of the tour - Part II

On the third day of a tour of Israel to present Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's peace-creating technologies which will bring invincibility to the nation, David Lynch met with the Mayor of Haifa, Mr Yona Yahav. Speaking about the need for Consciousness-Based Education in Israeli schools, Dr Lynch explained its two-fold benefits: to improve academic performance in students, while simultaneously raising the nation to invincibility. Possibilities for a pilot project in one of the larger schools of Haifa were discussed.

The tour concluded in Tel Aviv, Israel's largest city and biggest commercial centre, which is home to many of the nation's cultural leaders and foreign embassies. There, Dr Lynch met some of the most affluent and influential members of the Israeli community, including several leading figures in business and commerce, and inspired them to sponsor Consciousness-Based Education projects in schools. They were especially interested in the extensive scientific research on the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Programme.

Two large public meetings were held in Tel Aviv, including one at the Tel Aviv Cinematheque which is home to many annual festivals in different fields of cinema, and screens a broad range of films, both classical and contemporary. More than 800 students in the audience created a lively and dynamic atmosphere, with many questions and answers on the arts, and on development of inner creativity through the Transcendental Meditation Technique. At a second meeting, an audience of more than 500 people participated in lively discussions about TM and creativity.

An evening reception offered many well-known artists, including theatre and film personalities, the opportunity to meet David Lynch personally. Again, interest focused on the Transcendental Meditation Programme, with many expressing a desire to learn the technique.

At the request of Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, Founder of the Global Country of World Peace, the last and very enjoyable event in Israel was the laying of the foundation stone for the Tower of Invincibility. This took place overlooking a lake in a beautiful park in Tel Aviv, where Dr Lynch prepared the ground and placed the foundation stone. Lauding the tireless efforts of Dr Lynch to establish Consciousness-Based Education in every country he visits, Maharishi later fondly described him as the 'champion of the world'.
