Peace tower set for DC area
by Jen Haberkorn

6 October 2007
On 6 October 2007 The Washington Times reported:
Developer Jeffrey S. Abramson, a partner with the Tower Companies, is looking for sites in the Washington, DC area where he can build a 12-storey high Tower of Invincibility, dedicated to world peace.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of world peace.
The Washington Times reported, 'The tower will be a monument to peace, he said, and is derived from the principles of the International Center for Invincible Defense, a New York organization. It calls for groups of people to practice advanced meditation techniques and says that Transcendental Meditation can calm hostilities in the world and prevent violence and war.'
The Washington Times quoted Mr Abramson as saying that '(the tower represents) scientific principles and a universal knowledge of how to create peace. It's not an empty wish or a philosophy of peace. It's as concrete and real as the science and technology of electricity.'
The proposed 166 feet (50.6 metres) tall peace tower would have an exterior marble finish, an observatory with a 360-degree view, and 'house multimedia exhibitions on world peace', the article stated.
The developer is looking for an acre of land, and between US$5 million and $10 million in donations to cover land and construction costs.
The article quoted Mr Abramson as saying, 'There is no greater way to represent a fulfillment of those values—of peace and prevention of war—than in a structural building and icon.'
