Hansen: TM flyers meditate for peace, prosperity

On 28 July 2007 Des Moines Register reported: John Hagelin, world-renowned quantum physicist and President of the Global Union of Scientists for Peace,* recently described the positive effect that a group practising the Transcendental Meditation Programme and its advanced techniques including Yogic Flying has on a nation and the world. The article reported that according to Hagelin, a group of 1,800 of Yogic Flyers, such as those participating in the Invincible America Assembly in Iowa, USA, can create changes such as reduced violence and conflict, decreased unemployment, fewer hurricanes, increased diplomacy between nations, and a strong stock market. A group of 2,500 could ensure invincibility, Hagelin said.

Hagelin, described in the article as 'a respected scientist, a brilliant man with one degree from Dartmouth and two from Harvard', predicted changes such as the ones above at the start of the Invincible America Assembly in July 2006. The article stated that 'he was right.

He said the market would soar. It did—3,000 points' over the last year, and he is predicting further gains in the coming year.

However, the article stated, Hagelin emphasized that a continuing rise in the stock market will be just one indication of the increased coherence created by the group of Yogic Flyers.

'Most important, for me, there will be continued progress toward peace. We will improve our relationship with formerly hostile nations,' Hagelin was quoted as saying.
