Maharishi explains the new Kurma Chakra calendar

Inspired by the auspicious Day of Lasting Achievements, Akshaya Tritiya in the Vedic Calendar, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, founder of the Global Country of World Peace, announced that a special calendar, a Kurma Chakra calendar, has now been begun by the Vedic Pandits of India.

This Kurma Chakra calendar will put every date and month of the year in terms of the nine Grahas (planets), and how they affect each country.

Maharishi explained that, in the Vedic Science of Jyotish (Vedic Astrology), just as a horoscope predicts the yearly events of an individual, it can also predict what is going to happen in which month, in which country. Twenty-four people have been assigned the task of preparing the chart, the Kurma Chakra, for each of the 192 countries of the world.

'On the basis of the Kurma Chakra,' said Maharishi, 'they are able to predict the Grahas (planetary influences).' Maharishi explained that Kurma is one aspect of the administering intelligence of Natural Law, in the form of a tortoise. Analysis of the various parts of the Kurma Chakra indicates events during the different months of the year: 'What is this month on the right hand, what is this month on the left hand, what is this month on the legs, what is this month on the head.'

Describing the types of events that might be forecast in the Kundali (yearly calendar) for each year, for the 192 countries, Maharishi gave as examples: Whether there will be too much rain this year, or the temperature will decrease, or frosts will be heavier, or the crops will disappear in the frost, whether the builders will work hard or not—all these good and bad influences that the citizens of a country are going to enjoy and suffer. 'Like that, they are going to print the annual account of each country,' Maharishi said.

Influences in the Kundalis are listed in terms of the five elements—Prithivi, Jala, Agni, Vayu, Akasha (earth, water, fire, air, space). In terms of water, Maharishi said, the Kurma Chakra calendar would indicate 'whether the water element will be happy in the country or it will be furious, whether there'll be a huge amount of undue rain that will wash away all the crops. All kinds of good and bad events in the country will be listed in the yearly calendar of the country.'

Particularly noteworthy are events brought about by negative Grahas. Grahas are the working agents, the Vishvedevas, by themselves completely neutral, but as their position changes from year to year, month to month, day to day, their influence changes.

These 'changing moods' of the Grahas will be balanced by special Yagyas (Vedic performances) to change the mood of the water element, the fire element, the air element, etc. The moods of all five elements are on the basis of Grahas, and where they are in the chart. 'It's a language,' said Maharishi, 'the language of Jyotish.'

The Kundalis of all countries are being prepared, and will be translated and distributed to all countries. 'If the prediction comes: there will be a lot of fire, there will be anger of fire in this month, or there'll be anger of water element, or there'll be anger of air element, huge amount of winds, hurricanes and all, they'll wash away everything,' said Maharishi, 'people won't know what to do. But the Jyotishis (experts in Vedic Astrology) know how to counteract these things.'

These are the secrets of the prevention-oriented administration of Maharishi's Global Raam Raj, global administration through Natural Law. This is how one does the prevention—knowing it from the Kurma Chakra of the Jyotish.

'Raam Raj is not just a slogan for us, it is the reality of the spirit of perfect administration,' explained Maharishi. 'That means you amend the wind in advance, if the wind is going to come from the west. You do some Yagya, and the Yagyas are prescribed, do this, do this....'

'In order to neutralize the negative influences,' Maharishi said, 'there will be Pandits, hundreds of them, thousands of them.' Huge numbers of Pandits will be needed, and are gathering in the Brahmasthan (centre point) of India.

For an initial target of 16,000 Pandits, residences and Mandaps, where the Pandits sit in groups of five or eleven, and perform Yagyas, are being built. A huge amount of construction is progressing in the Brahmasthan, from where the Vedic Pandits will know the situation in all 192 countries, month after month. They will be perfoming Yagyas from there to counteract those negative influences, so the country doesn't have to face that negativity, and will always enjoy integration. This is Global Administration of Raja Raam, administration of Brahma himself.

Delighting in the singing of the Vedic Pandits, Maharishi said, 'I would like teams of those Pandits singing those beautiful songs of the different aspects of Raam Raj. I have a desire that everyone in the world should hear these Pandits.' Groups of five or eleven will travel from country to country—a beautiful entertainment role, but very significant in the practicalities of Total Knowledge for total good to every individual of every nation, and total good to the total destiny of every nation.

'Perfect health, immortality, invincibility, affluence, we are aiming at that. With the grace of Guru Dev* it will begin to happen soon,' Maharishi concluded. 'If something wrong were meant to happen, now that will not happen because a counteracting power has been created by the Vedic Pandits in India. The world is rising to be a beautiful onset of time, Sat Yuga.'
