On 22 April 2007 Beliefnet reported:
Filmmaker David Lynch has practised Maharishi's Transcendental Meditation Programme for nearly 35 years, and he is currently focused on bringing the benefits of the TM Technique to students everywhere through his David Lynch Foundation for Consciousness-Based Education and World Peace.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of world peace.
The article states that 'In his personal life ... Lynch has found contentment and balance by practicing Transcendental Meditation.'
Mr Lynch is quoted as saying that when he learned TM he 'started enjoying life.' Mr Lynch said in the interview with beliefnet that 'true happiness is not out there, true happiness lies within.'
'Bliss is our nature. Life should be blissful, and blissful doesn't mean just a small happiness. It's huge. It is profound,' Mr Lynch added.
The article reported that David Lynch is trying to raise $7 billion to support Consciousness-Based Education so that students can enjoy this level of life, life in enlightenment. Mr Lynch said that the students of Consciousness-Based Education are stronger, happier, smarter students.
In addition, groups of students practising Transcendental Meditation together can 'create a wave of peace' Mr Lynch is quoted as saying. David Lynch explained that large groups have a more powerful peace-creating effect, so one way to create a powerful influence of peace, he said, is through a university of peace, a Consciousness-Based Education institution with at least 8,000 students meditating together.
