Mass Meditation
by Andrew Taynton

9 October 2006
On 9 October 2006 Witness Today reported:
A letter to the editor by Andrew Taynton outlines group practice of the Transcendental Meditation technique as the solution to reducing crime and producing political stability in South Africa.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of world peace.
'A permanent group the size of the square root of one per cent of the population, about 700 people in South Africa, practising the TM-Sidhi programme together in one place' is what is needed to solve South Africa's problems.
'The starting hypothesis' Taynton states 'is that stress in the collective consciousness of the nation fosters crime and negativity in society, and eliminating stress in the collective consciousness produces harmony and positivity.'
He says that if wealthy citizens or the government would support permanent groups of people 'practising the Transcendental Meditation (TM) Sidhi programme, as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi,' then the result would be 'significant positive trends and (a) transformed society.'
He noted that 'In 1993, one such group showed how it reduced crime in Washington DC by 23% for the duration of the experiment.'
Large groups meditating in Holland, India, and the US are achieving similar results, which are reflected in reports from the press. He cites examples from the US, such as the stock market having 'gone through the roof', crude oil prices dropping, and no serious hurricanes developing.
He concludes that 'until either the government or a group of wealthy individuals sponsors such a group, South Africa will continue languishing in violent crime, suffering and mediocrity.'
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
