MUM alum garners wide recognition for solar company's success

The Excellence In Action page of Global Good News is featuring this article about Maharishi University of Management* alumnus Troy Van Beek. Troy's solar energy installation was recently recognized as ''solar project of the year'' by Solar Builder magazine.
The project earning recognition by Solar Builder magazine involved repurposing a former school building in Iowa, USA into a 39-unit apartment complex, powered by a 300-kW solar array. The array included a 100-kW carport and a 200-kW installation on the roof.

In addition, because of his demonstrated leadership, his contribution to the community and the profession, and his potential for future leadership in Iowa, Mr. Van Beek, founder and CEO of Ideal Energy, is one of 40 leaders in Iowa selected to participate in the 2016-2017 Leadership Iowa program, an issues-awareness program that challenges, educates, and inspires a high level of civic engagement in emerging leaders in the state.

About Troy Van Beek:
Troy's diverse background includes nine years in the U.S. Navy Seals as a Special Forces medic, and personal security details in hostile environments, such as the Middle East and Africa. After years of heart-pumping, high-profile work, Troy's path of action led him to explore alternative methods for creating global security. Troy's inquiries into the depths of our pressing socioeconomic and environmental challenges brought him to Maharishi University of Management, where he earned a degree in Sustainability.
Troy has followed his passion for creating self-sufficiency through community involvement. After a year of serving as a member of the Go Green Commission for Fairfield, Iowa, where he participated in creating a comprehensive sustainability plan for the City, Troy founded Ideal Energy, Inc., to begin helping the city to fulfill the steps outlined in the plan. Although Ideal Energy's clientele has broadened to a national level, Troy remains dedicated to implementing renewable energy solutions in his hometown of Fairfield, Iowa.
