15 December 2005
On 15 December 2005 sbsun.com reported:
A number of separate research studies in the United States funded by various institutions 'have presented evidence that regular meditation practice helps regulate both mental and physiological stress, improves health, increases lifespan, and causes measurable and fundamental changes in brain anatomy'. This article examines the benefits to the brain of Transcendental Meditation and other methods.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of science.
Research on meditation and brain functioning has been funded 'by the National Institutes of Health, the MIND Institute, the Centers for Disease Control, the University of Georgia, and the Center of Natural Medicine and Prevention at Maharishi University of Management, among other institutions'.
The author reported that 'studies of Transcendental Meditation (TM), a method espoused by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, have consistently shown that mental and physical health benefits can be realized in a relatively short time and then maintained'.
'In May, I reviewed a study published in the American Journal of Cardiology that followed TM practitioners into their later years, finding a 23 per cent reduction in death rates from all causes. The cancer reduction rate was 49 per cent lower, while the cardiovascular disease rate of death was 30 per cent lower than that of controls,' said Allan J. Comeau, a psychologist on the clinical faculty at UCLA and a former president of the Inland Southern California Psychological Association.
The article went on to cite more studies on other forms of meditation which have shown positive influences on the health of the brain.
Every day Global Good News documents the rise of a better quality of life dawning in the world and highlights the need for introducing Natural Law based—Total
Knowledge based—programmes to bring the support of Nature to every individual, raise the quality of life of every society, and create a lasting state of world peace.
