On 16 August 2005 The Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy reported:
Dr John Hagelin is urging top scientists around the world to step forward and take on a leadership role in the new Global Union of Scientists for Peace, an organization founded to stop the threat of nuclear proliferation and war through the establishment of large peace-creating groups in every nation.
It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring
fulfilment to the field of science.
Accompanying Dr Hagelin's letter of invitation to these scientists is a powerful new brochure entitled 'Nuclear Alert' (www.NuclearAlert.org) that describes the current threat and the proven technology to counteract it. The brochure summarizes the long-standing efforts of scientists around the world to prevent nuclear catastrophe, clearly describes our proven peace-creating technology, and presents the clear choice facing scientists today:
For 50 years, scientists have advocated nuclear restraint—a voice that has been overwhelmed by politicians' perceived need for a strong nuclear deterrent. Now scientists can equip themselves with a powerful, proven approach to peace and national security—and play a decisive role in the leadership of their nations. It is no longer necessary to leave the fate of the world in the hands of ignorant politicians with destructive agendas. We can now render such aggressive tendencies utterly impotent by creating an overwhelming physical influence of peace.
The staff of the Institute of Science, Technology and Public Policy, of which Dr Hagelin is the director, have been identifying and contacting top scientists in every country and sending them this powerful package of knowledge in order to solicit their support for and participation in the Global Union of Scientists for Peace.
