Pooled data from two studies indicates that Maharishi AyurVeda can help prevent or even reverse atherosclerosis, the buildup of plaque on artery walls that can contribute to heart attack and stroke, according to a paper published last month in the Journal of Preventive Cardiology.

The treatment modalities included four components of Maharishi AyurVeda: the Transcendental Meditation technique and the Maharishi AyurVeda approach to diet, exercise, and herbal food supplements.

The new analysis, which was coauthored by Maharishi University of Management researchers Ken Walton, Robert Schneider, and others, found that the reduction in atherosclerosis after 9-12 months was not only statistically significant but also clinically significant, meaning that it shows a clear health benefit. The change observed is expected to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke by 25%.
