How Transcendental Meditation helped me through a traumatic experience
by Harper Spero

28 July 2014
On 28 July 2014 The Huffington Post reported: Last year Harper Spero, Managing Director at Agent of Change, had two MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) medical tests. The first was intensely stressful, physically and emotionally—she found the machine 'awkward and claustrophobic' and felt little comfort or support. As the date of the second MRI approached some months later, she felt rising anxiety, panic, and dread. But in contrast to her first experience, the second turned out to be very smooth and ''seamless'', she writes in The Huffington Post.
What was different? The technician was kind and understanding—but Ms Spero gives most of the credit to Transcendental Meditation, which she had learned in the interim, and practised while she was in the machine during the test. It is a joy for Global Good News service to feature this news, which indicates the success of the life-supporting programmes Maharishi has designed to bring fulfilment to the field of health.
In the Huffington Post article Ms Spero also explains how it happened that she learned Transcendental Meditation:
''In October 2013, my company produced a panel discussion for the David Lynch Foundation to encourage women to meditate and the reminder and importance of managing a work-life balance. The panel discussed how they learned Transcendental Meditation (TM) and how it changed their everyday lives. Shortly after this event, I decided all the benefits they discussed were extremely relevant to my life and I decided to go through the course to learn for myself.''
With a number of health concerns, including a rare immune deficiency, Ms Spero says, 'I'm so grateful to have a tool like TM that not only helps with lowering my blood pressure and enables me to sleep better, but also to stay calm and controlled in hectic situations.'
