American Heart Association expert to present on meditation at Maharishi University of Management

Robert Brook, MD, chair of the American Heart Association committee that concluded the Transcendental Meditation technique may be considered in the treatment of high blood pressure, will give a free presentation on May 5 at Maharishi University of Management in Fairfield, Iowa, USA, sponsored by Maharishi College of Perfect Health as part of the Distinguished Lecture Series.
In addition to authoring the AHA statement on alternative approaches to blood pressure, Dr. Brook chaired the committee on air pollution and heart disease.
His presentation is titled, ''Meditation and Alternative Approaches to Hypertension and Air Pollution-Related Cardiovascular Disease: Lessons from Two American Heart Association Scientific Statements.''
''Hypertension and air pollution are leading causes of death worldwide,'' said Dr. Brook, associate professor of medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School. ''Nonpharmacologic approaches to management of high blood pressure and air pollution-associated heart disease are important strategies to combat these rising global public health problems.''
His presentation will be webcast on MUMTV.
