Transcendental Meditation - Sydney Translate This Article
12 October 2013
Robert Schneider, MD, FACC, internationally renowned research cardiologist and one of the world's leading authorities on natural medicine in the prevention and treatment of heart disease, gave a workshop today in Sydney, Australia, on Total Heart Health.
Dr Schneider is director of the Institute for Natural Medicine and Prevention, Maharishi University of Management Research Institute in Iowa, USA.
He is visiting Australia this month, meeting with doctors and researchers to encourage collaborative research on non-drug approaches to heart disease. Landmark research conducted by Dr Schneider and his team shows that Transcendental Meditation lowers blood pressure and substantially reduces heart attacks and strokes.
The workshop was based on a comprehensive, side effect–free approach to prevent and treat cardiovascular disease based on the world's oldest, most complete, scientific system of natural medicine: Maharishi Ayur-Veda. According to Dr Schneider, participants learned ''how to turn on their body's own pharmacy—to repair and maintain itself.''
Also participating in the workshop was Dr Tim Carr, President of the Maharishi Ayurveda Association of Australia.
The Total Heart Health workshop presented a holistic system of preventive and curative cardiovascular health based on principles of ancient Ayurvedic medicine, in light of cutting edge modern medical science, including epigenetics. It gave participants profound understanding and simple techniques to heal the physical and emotional heart by tapping the body's inner healing intelligence.
Among topics participants learned about were: ∙ Taking advantage of the latest scientific discoveries on stress and emotional health, physical health and relationships ∙ How stress affects emotional and physical heart ∙ Simple and effective Vedic strategies to heal the emotional heart—the basis of total heart health. ∙ Comparing perspectives from modern medicine and ancient Ayurveda ∙ Using diet, exercise, daily routine, herbal supplements and meditation to reduce stress, restore health and increase happiness and well-being ∙ Improve sleep, digestion, energy, and weight, naturally ∙ Ayurvedic physiology and discovering one's specific mind-body type ∙ Customise diet, exercise, supplements, and stress reduction practices according to mind-body type ∙ Understand and apply the knowledge of mind-body medicine and ancient Ayurvedic wisdom to improve relationships, sense of peace and tranquility.
Dr Schneider is author of the book Total Heart Health.
His current tour of Australia brings him to Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra, Brisbane, and Gold Coast.
