'We had exceptional media coverage,' said Branko Cicic, director of the Transcendental Meditation programme in Serbia and founder of the Bio Balkan organic expo.
At the recent Bio Balkan fair, held for the third year in Belgrade, there were 'seven independent camera crews just for one single television station, the national television of Serbia. Plus there were many others from other television stations, including live broadcasts on the public TV of Belgrade on the day of the opening of the fair.'
Other forms of media were also well represented, said Mr Cicic. 'All the major newspapers and many periodicals were publishing excellent reports on the events and promoting our association as the driving force of the Serbian organic movement.'
Mr Cicic's Serbian Organic Foundation (Organska Srbija) is responsible for establishing the Bio Balkan Expo, which is now the largest fair of its kind in southeast Europe.
'In recognition of our role, I have been invited by the parliamentary board on environmental protection to speak at a public hearing on GMO (genetically modified organisms) at the Serbian parliament,' Mr Cicic said. 'We plan to talk about our proven consciousness-based technologies to resolve this, one of the greatest threats to food security for mankind.'
But the media in Serbia have been focusing on other aspects of health as well. Transcendental Meditation has been well represented, said Mr Cicic.
'After several excellent articles we had on the benefits of meditation in our media, we were invited by one of the four largest television stations . . . to be their guests and speak of Transcendental Meditation for around an hour.'
The television station has full national coverage in Serbia.
Mr Cicic said, 'Myself and five meditators will be going there together and speaking on the benefits we have experienced in our lives through the practice of Transcendental Meditation, and also scientific research on all of our programmes.'
