∙ The Consciousness paradigm of mind and body: self-referral maintains unity while structuring diversity in perfect health. How to live in balance and according to your nature, in a busy world.
∙ The ''mistake of the intellect'', stress, transcendence and meditation: Transcendence is the natural antidote to stress and all stress-related complaints.
∙ How to recognise imbalance and correct it before it disrupts health. Daily, seasonal and stage-of-life regimes for health.
∙ Living transcendence in daily life; meditation and a balanced life helps transform mind and body into something more than either one.
Norman E. Rosenthal, MD
''As a psychiatrist and researcher, I have been excited to find out the many ways in which Transcendental Meditation can improve people's health and boost performance. In my book, 'Transcendence', I have presented this information in a way that is readily accessible, through stories of people whose life has been transformed by TM, along with the amazing scientific studies that explain and support these accounts.''
Currently Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at Georgetown Medical School and in private practice in Washington, DC, Dr Rosenthal gained fame as the scientist who first described Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and pioneered the revolutionary use of light therapy. More recently, Dr Rosenthal has researched the use of Transcendental Meditation in the treatment and prevention of bipolar disorder (manic depression), post-traumatic stress disorder, and other stress-related conditions. His new book, Transcendence: Healing and Transformation through Transcendental Meditation, a New York Times bestseller, was released in paperback earlier this year in the UK.
Donn Brennan, MB BCh BAO, MRCGP, MScAyu
''As a General Practitioner I was fascinated to find simple, effective strategies for health in Ayurveda. As well as its secret of Transcendence, Ayurveda has simple lifestyle, dietary and recreational strategies which bring amazing improvements in patients' health and quality of life. It is a joy to see people weaning off medication. But a greater joy to see them regain their vitality and well-being. To witness their patients weaning off medicines and regaining confidence in their own health is the most fulfilling experience for doctors.''
One of Europe's first doctors trained in Ayurveda's natural approach to health, and founding President of the Ayurvedic Practitioners Association of Great Britain, Dr Brennan worked in various specialities in hospitals throughout Ireland before becoming a General Practitioner (GP) in the UK. He is a popular broadcaster, author and speaker, on topics as diverse as ''You Are What You Digest'', ''Managing Your Weight Effortlessly'', ''Maharishi Ayurveda and Women's Health'', ''The Heart, Health, and Consciousness'', ''Ojas – the body's self-healing substance'', ''Rejuvenation for Young and Old'', ''Yoga, Mental Health and Happiness'', ''Health for School and Family'', ''Sleep Well, Enjoy Energy, Be Vital'', and ''Life Begins at 50!'' He has been charming audiences with his day courses and seminars for 20 years, and contributes regularly to radio and TV health programmes.
