Transcendental Meditation News - UK Translate This Article
27 February 2012
The New York Times bestseller, Transcendence: Healing and Transformation through Transcendental Meditation by Norman E. Rosenthal, M.D., has just been published as a paperback in the UK by Hay House UK Ltd.
Dr Rosenthal is clinical professor of psychiatry at Georgetown Medical School, USA, and is best known as the celebrated psychiatrist who pioneered the study and treatment of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). His new book has been described as the most important work on Transcendental Meditation since Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Science of Being and Art of Living—and one of today's most significant books on achieving better physical and mental health.
In Transcendence, Dr Rosenthal demystifies the practice and benefits of Transcendental Meditation for a general audience who may have heard about it, but do not necessarily know what it is or what they stand to gain from learning it.
He provides one of the most accessible books ever written on the broad range of benefits to be gained, from the relief of anxiety, stress and depression to new hope for those experiencing addiction, attention-deficit disorderss and post-traumatic stress disorder.
He discusses how it can help not only those who are in dire need but also bring fulfilment to the lives of those who are already high achievers, helping them to achieve what he calls their 'personal best'.
Alongside interviews with celebrities such as Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Martin Scorsese, Russell Brand, Moby and David Lynch, he draws upon experiences from the lives of his own patients and a wealth of clinical research on the technique during the last four decades.
