In Maharishi Ayur-Veda health care, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi has made available the knowledge of an ideal lifestyle for health and longevity.
Dr Sunil Patil, a Vaidya (expert Maharishi Ayur-Veda physician from India), recently offered guidelines for diet and daily routine for those aged 50 years and older to maintain good health and long life—to be followed according to one's comfort and ability.
In an interview, Vaidya Patil, who first worked with Maharishi at MERU, Holland in 1992, presented basic principles of health, especially to support those over 50.
His recommendations included:
- early to bed and early to rise—among other aspects of a good daily routine
- twice daily practice of Maharishi Yoga asanas and the Transcendental Meditation Programme
- midday lunch as the main meal of the day, with a lighter breakfast and supper
Maharishi Ayur-Veda represents the modern restoration by Maharishi of the complete and authentic practice of Ayur-Veda, the world's oldest, most comprehensive system of natural medicine. It offers programmes which are time-tested and free from harmful side-effects to help support health by enlivening the body's inner intelligence—understood in Vedic medicine to be the basis of all physiological self-repair healing mechanisms.
Individual consultations with experts in Maharishi Ayur-Veda may provide more detailed health recommendations.
